Xuxa

I remember one summer we spent in Brazil, listening to this CD of Xuxa, the Brazilian children singer/TV show host every day and falling in love with her just as all the other little Brazilian girls did too. I would watch her shows, buys her Cd's, go see her latest hit movie. In fact one year we spent Christmas in Brazil and I remember getting a huge Xuxa doll. I loved her! She was beautiful, tall and skinny and spoke Portuguese. I wanted to be Xuxa. On her early morning TV shows, she had a group of girls as her "dancers" or "Paquitas" and I remember dreaming of being one of those girls. I even decided that I would never return home, if Xuxa asked me to be one of her "paquitas". My sister of course was asked to be on her show. But I never did. I still don't know why she declined.
So as we were in Brazil this last December, I saw this CD and just had to buy it. It brings back so many good memories of Brazil and my childhood.
And so I am learning that even as I had this major infatuation for Xuxa, it usually dissipates and you grow up. You move on to bigger and better things that you enjoy. And so with that, I am hoping that this phase of Disney Princesses, will soon fade and then I will be left with this grown up Ellie...oh how life just passes you by....at least I have my Xuxa to bring me back! Enjoy the music and imagine a chubby little Ev dancing to this....
