When I Left Hawaii, I Kauai’d

That is exactly how we felt when our quick trip to Kauai ended. I have now Polynesian Paralysis! I just want to sit by the beach and read a book everyday! This trip was fantastic! Not too long, and not to short. And it left us still wanting to explore the island again!October 2011 010 We hiked Waimea Canyon. It is known as the “Grand Canyon” of Hawaii. It was beautiful!

October 2011 006It is an 18 mile ride up the mountain stopping at various lookout points.

hawaii3     This is the last lookout on the trip, which is the Napali Coast. Gorgeous! We decided to take the 1.5 mile hike up to the lookout point and while making the hike, having to careful watch our steps because it was raining and all we had was running shoes in red clay mud! Not great combinations!

October 2011 016 This was basically what we were hiking through the whole 3 miles! Then it would rain and get more slippery. There was even a point in the hike where we were climbing straight upward, holding onto branches because the ground was so wet and slippery! But the view was impossible to see because we were high in the clouds but as we walked back this is what was our reward:

October 2011 020 This was our view every morning from the hotel lobby!

hawaii5 This is what we did for the rest of the time! No kids, no clean-up, no dishes, no feisty clients, no phone calls~ Just sun, sand and my best traveling person in the world!October 2011 009

Happy 11 years of sweet bliss!
